First off, Happy Easter, everyone! Spring time is about rebirth, renewal, and refreshing changes. That's why it's the perfect time to update my website :) As you can see, I now have 3 different tabs where you can view my blog, a gallery of some of my favorite headshots and dance photos, along with a section for my brand new dance reel!
Exciting things have been happening with more to come, and I am so fortunate to be able to share these things. What inspired the different pages of my website was the recent completion of my very first dance reel and my photoshoot with City Digital Photography (I received the pictures and finished my reel all in the same weekend!). I absolutely love the excitement of getting new pictures and seeing how each shot turned out. You don't always get to see the pictures at the photoshoot, so you usually have to wait a couple weeks for the pictures to be mailed. I think the pictures turned out wonderfully and I hope you enjoy them too. They are the first 3 headshots in my gallery and the shots with the blue leotard and black tutu as well.
I must say, I am ecstatic and quite proud of my dance reel, since I've never made one before. I could not have done it without my brother, Chris, who did the majority of the cutting and assembling, and my boyfriend, Brody, who let me use his computer program to tweak it. The clips include performances and choreography from high school and college, as well as some footage that Chris and I got in the studio a couple months ago. The point of a dance reel is to promote yourself as a dancer and display your best work. You want to accentuate your strengths, and also show your versatility. Video editing definitely takes a lot of determination and patience, especially if you aren't very familiar with the process. It takes a good amount of practice and trial and error to get the hang of it, but it was all worth it in the end.
